In this shot, '160' gets a bit of TLC while keeping company with a PT-13.

More TLC for '160'... this time inside one of the hangars at Chanute.

Static Tigers

Like most of the aircraft assigned to the USAAC/USAAF Technical School at Chanute Field,
this P-40E was used primarily as a ground instruction trainer for wrench-turners. Of note
are the non-standard spinner and the shroud covering the forward-most exhaust stack. The
latter indicates that this ship may have been modified for cold-weather operations.

The information I have concerning this photo of a P-40E indicates that it may
have been taken at Chanute Field... but I am not totally sure about this.
Until info to the contrary comes to light, this image will remain here.

Written on the reverse is: "P-40 used for instruction"
